Vila Schwantes Wed To Verner Oelrich

Miss Vila Leota Schwantes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schwantes of Spencer, and Verner G. Oelrich, son of Mrs. Alvina Oelrich of Spencer, were married in a ceremony performed in St. John’s Evangelical church in the town of Brighton Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. The Rev. H. C. Hinz officiated at the ceremony. Mrs Art Huber, a sister of the groom, played the wedding marches and LaVonne and Elaine Domer sang "O Perfect Love."

The bride wore a white satin and net gown styled with a snug fitting bodice, short puffed sleeves, and a full entrained net skirt. Her long, billowing veil was caught to a crown of seed pearls and she carried pompons in her arms. Her pearl jewelry was a gift of the groom. Miss Elaine Schwantes, a sister of the bride, wearing an acqua jersey formal dress, was maid of honor, while Miss Lucille Oelrich, the groom’s sister in an identical frock in pink, was bridesmaid. Both wore pearl earrings, gifts of the bride, and corsages of pompons. Arnold Oelrich, a brother of the groom, was best man and Gerald Schwantes, a brother of the bride, was groomsman. Eileen Greeler, a cousin of the bride, in a long, white dress and carrying a basket filled with pompons, served as flower girl; Arlyn Schwantes, small brother of the bride, carried the wedding rings. Mrs. Schwantes, mother of the bride, wore an acqua ensemble for her daughter’s wedding, and Mrs. Oelrich, mother of the groom, was attired in gray. Both had shoulder corsages of pompons.

Following the ceremony 60 guests were served dinner at the Schwantes home, canopied with pink, white and blue streamers. A three-tier wedding cake flanked with blue and white candles centered the table. In the evening before the guests left for their homes they were again served a buffet lunch. The couple went on a wedding trip to West Bend and Milwaukee, they will be at home in Spencer, where the groom is a trucker for the Big Four Oil Co. Guests from away were Mr. and Mrs. Sienicki of Grand Forks, N.D.
