Bonczyk, Louise Josephine (March 18, 1915 - February 11, 2007)

Louise J. Bonczyk, age 91, of Thorp, died at her home on Sunday, February 11, 2007. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service.

Louise Josephine Burzynski was born on March 18, 1915 in the Town of Eidsvold, rural Stanley, to Frank and Frances (Wypyszynski) Burzynski. Her family moved to a farm northeast of Thorp, where Louise was raised and received her education. She was united in marriage on June 22, 1935 to John Bonczyk, Sr. in Chicago. They bought a farm in the Longwood area, where they farmed until her husband’s death on March 3, 1982. Louise then sold the farm and moved into Thorp to live with her sister, Frances Pawlak, until buying a house in Thorp. She resided in Thorp until the time of her death.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW and was a former member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, Wis. She enjoyed baking, sewing and giving anyone a helping hand.

She is survived by one son, Raymond (Shirley) Bonczyk of Glen Ellen, IL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Richard (Marian) Burzynski of Minneapolis, MN; George (Lillian) Burzynski of Roselle, IL; and Leonard (Theresa) Burzynski of Westmont, IL; two sisters: Dolores Szczygiel of Bensenville, IL and Margaret Zasacki of Thorp, WI; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Burzynski of Thorp, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Sr.; one son, John Jr.; six brothers: Pete, John, Harry, Ben, Edward, and Frank in infancy; and four sisters: Frances Pawlak, Helen Romeg, and Irene & Marie in infancy.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
