Bartelt, Vivian (23 OCT 1909 - 6 JUN 1944)

Vivian West, daughter of Mrs. Grace West and the late Ellsworth West, was born October 23, 1909 in the town of Weston (Clark Co., Wis.) and passed away in Chicago on June 6, 1944 following a three weeks illness.

Only July 28, 1927 she was married to Reuben Bartelt in Neillsville, who passed away on June 1, 1940. After their marriage they resided on a farm 2 miles west of Greenwood. Until the death of Mr. Bartelt when she and her four children moved in with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bartelt, later moving to Neillsville, Wis. The children returned to the home of their grandparents, where they are residing now. The grandmother passed away Jan. 1, 1944.

She is survived by her three sons, Robert, William and Douglas of Greenwood, and one daughter, Evelyn of Chippewa Falls, her mother of Neillsville, four sisters, Mrs. Glen Drew of Greenwood; Mrs. Wm. Santos and Mrs. Ronald Spence of Beloit; and Mrs. Wm. Jake Jr. of Prairie du Sac, and a half brother, Louis Morse, Chicago.

The body was brought to Greenwood Thursday afternoon and on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. a short service was held at the Schiller Funeral Parlors and at 2:00 p.m. services were held at the Methodist Church. Rev. A.J. Abbott officiated. During the services Mrs. Louis Behrens and Mrs. Herbert Schwarze sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me", accompanied by Mrs. John Meng.

She was laid to rest in the Neillsville Cemetery beside her husband.

The pallbearers were Ed Johnson, Ed Abel, Gilbert Abel, Wm. Marvin, Edwin Parr and Frank Smaldone.

Mrs. George Caliebe and Mrs. Albert Dahl had charge of flowers.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Grace West, Mrs. Blanche West Jake, Prairie du Sac; Mrs. Irene Santas, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Morse, Josephine Straugfelt, Viola Morse, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Dale West, Mrs. Claude Catlin, daughter Fern; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Goehring, Loyal; Fred Buchholtz, Christie.
