Willard C. Claussen

THORP -- Willard Clair Claussen, 86, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Thorp, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Thorp United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the East Thorp Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements

He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Joy, Neb., to John and Cora (Johnson) Claussen. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He married Joyce Rusch on Nov. 28, 1943, in Phoenix, Ariz. After his discharge, they had lived in several places before moving to Withee and buying a farm in the town of Reseburg in 1959. They farmed until Jan. 1976 when they sold the farm and moved to Thorp. Willard worked at the Coast to Coast Hardware Store until 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Claussen of Chippewa Falls; four children, Nancy (Bill) Zaborowski, Galesville, Betty (John) Ringelspaugh, Tomah, Charles (Jan) Claussen, Norwalk, and Catherine (Charles) Marohl, Eau Claire; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
