Denzin, John (October 24, 1923 - January 1, 2007)

John Denzin, of the Town of Taft, rural Thorp, (formerly of the Town of Lisbon), passed away on Monday, January 1, 2007 at his residence. He was 83 years old.

He was born on October 24, 1923 in Milwaukee to Edwin and Bertha (nee Fischer) Denzin.

John was a WWII veteran having served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, the Horne-Mudlitz V.F.W. post in Sussex, and the Disabled American Veterans. John was formerly police chief of Lannon, constable of the Town of Lisbon, a Waukesha county special Deputy Sheriff and a member of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association. John’s love of music started early in life. He attended the WI Conservatory of Music for two years following high school and played the drums in a number of well-known musical groups over the years. He was a retired member of the Musicians Union and the Graphic Communications International Union.

He is survived by his three daughters; Mari (Ronald) Schmidt of Menomonee Falls, Patrice (Fred) Denzin-Weber of Slinger and Denise Denzin of Wauwatosa; three grandchildren: Jesse Denzin-Weber, Robert Schmidt and Gena (Paul) Frey; a great-grandchild, Riley Frey; a sister, Audrey Hass of Franklin; and three stepchildren. John is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Alice (Heffling) Denzin; his wife Elsa; his parents; and sister, Ruth Rohrer.

Memorial funeral services for John will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, with Rev. Doug Livingston officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027.
