Florence, Martha B. (Marriage - 29 June 1940)

Miss Martha B. Florence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Florence, of Pittsville, was united in marriage to Everest A. Schaefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Schaefer, Neillsville, Friday, June 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in this city, the Rev. J. A. Biegler officiating at a nine o’clock service. The double ring ceremony was used.

The home was decorated with blue, pink and white streamers and bouquets of mixed flowers. About 75 guests were present.

The bride wore a pretty gown of white chiffon, with inserted lace and a three-quarter length veil. Her bouquet consisted of a variety of white flowers. Miss Betty Ann Flounce acted as maid of honor. She wore white chiffon with a pink shoulder length veil, her bouquet being a combination of mixed flowers. The bridesmaid, Bernadine Buzza, also wore white chiffon, with a blue shoulder-length veil, her bouquet being similar of that of the maid of honor.

Raymond Schaefer acted as best man and George Florence directed the guest to their seats. The bride’s mother wore navy blue silk, while the groom’s mother was dressed in black and white silk. A wedding reception was given at Hake’s dance hall.

The bride was graduated from Neillsville High School in 1939 and since that time she has busied herself with housework. The groom is a young farmer.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Buzza, Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berger, St. Paul, were among the out-of-town guests.
