Acker, Gretchen (15 MAR 1947)

Wearing a beige gabardine suit with black accessories, and a corsage of red roses, Miss Gretchen Acker, Sand Diego, Calif., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Acker, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was claimed in marriage by Arthur G. Hokenson, National City, Calif., son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Hokenson. The wedding ceremony was performed in the Little Chapel of Roses, Glen Abbey Park, Chula Vista, Calif., March 15, 1947, at 4:15 p.m.

The Rev. Leslie Hendren, pastor of the Methodist Church at Glen Abbey Park, read the nuptial vows to the accompaniment of soft organ music and the songs of six yellow canaries which are housed in the Isle of Living Green inside the church.

Attendants were Miss Hazel G. Parker, San Diego, Calif., and Alton Dyer, National City, Calif. Miss Parker wore a spring green suit, black accessories, and a corsage of yellow roses.

At 7 p.m. a wedding dinner was served to the bridal party in the dining room of Tops Restaurant, San Diego.

After a brief honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Hokenson are now residing at 31 E. First St., National City.

Mrs. Hokenson was graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1940 and attending school in Eau Claire. Before accepting her present position with the San Diego Production Credit Association, she was employed in Eau Claire, LaCrosse and Pepin, Wis.

Mr. Hokenson is a member of the traffic squad of the National City police force. He attended Sweetwater High School in National City and is a veteran of World War II.
