Asplin, Jessie E. (8 MAY 1943)

Miss Jessie Elaine Asplin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Asplin, 612 S. Central Av. (Marshfield, Wis.), became the bride of Raymond Ampe, son of Mrs. Frieda Ampe of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. J.A. Biegler in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Neillsville, Saturday, May 8, 1943, at 9 a.m.

The bride’s princess styled white satin gown was made with a sweetheart neckline, tight basque bodice, and a full skirt ending in a long train. Seed pearls trimmed the dress and fashioned the tiara which topped her coiffure, from which fell a fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of roses and sweet peas in her arms.

Her sister attendant, Mrs. George Scherer Jr., Greenwood, was maid of honor, and Miss Gladys Mortenson, Chicago, bridesmaid. Both wore matching picture hats with their gowns of pink and blue chiffon and gardenia corsages. George Scherer Jr., the bride’s brother-in-law, was best man and Donald Kocher ushered.

Seventy-five guests attended the reception held later at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scherer Jr., at Greenwood, decorated in the colors of the gowns of the bridal party, white wedding bells, and cut flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Ampe are now at home to their friends on his mother’s farm near Greenwood. The bride, who was salutatorian of the Neillsville High School in 1942, has been employed by the J.C. Penney Co., at Neillsville, Wis. Mr. Ampe was graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1937.

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Masson and son, Laverne, and Mrs. Kenneth Keach and daughter Jacqueline, Detroit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Verhel, Duluth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Asplin, Durand; Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Ampe and family, Cadott; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ampe and family, Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Borysiewicz, Wausau.
