Horvat, Jennie (Marriage - 11 Nov. 1939)

Miss Jennie Horvat, daughter of Mrs. Johanna Horvat of Willard, was married to Joe Tolaney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Tolaney, also of Willard, at the Holy Family church in Willard on Saturday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Father Marcell Marinshek, officiated at the nuptial high mass.

The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of satin and lace and wore a long veil trimmed with lace. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. She was attended by her sister, Miss Helen Horvat, dressed in orchid taffeta, who acted as maid of honor, and Miss Josephine Laken, wearing peach taffeta, who was bridesmaid. They both carried yellow chrysanthemums.

The groom was attended by Valentine Kraintz, as best man and Louis Horvat, brother of the bride, who was the usher. They all wore dark suits.

At six in the evening a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother. Dinner was served to about 150 guests. After the dinner a shower and wedding dance were held at the Catholic hall. Many beautiful gifts were received.

The church, bride’s home and hall were all beautifully decorated for the occasion.

Out-of-town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kluhn and Family and Mr. and Mrs. Kushka of Milwaukee. Mrs. Joseph Jeras and son of Lyons, Ill. Misses Josephine and Mary Ann Laken of Eau Claire; John Tolaney of Warsaw, Ill.; and Tony Tolaney of Park Falls, Wis.

The happy couple left Monday to spend their honeymoon in Chicago and Milwaukee. They will make their home with the groom’s parents.
