Hebert, Mabel M. (? - 24 DEC 1937)

This vicinity was saddened Dec. 24th by the news of the passing of Mrs. W. L. Hebert at a Madison hospital about 9:30 that morning. She had been taken there for a severe attack of asthma.

Mabel M. Pickett was born in Hartford, Washington County and in 1872 came to Spencer, Wis., with her parents, the late Samuel and Eliza Pickett, moving to a farm in the Town of Unity.

On October 28, 1891 she was united in marriage to W. L. Hebert and went to reside on the farm on which she spent the remainder of her life.

She left her husband and six children, Mrs. Fred (Myrtle) Meacham, Loyal; Mrs. Frank (Edna) Bishop, Marathon; Lloyd, Spencer; Forest, Riplinger; Glenn and Harry at home. She also leaves a brother H. L. Pickett, Neillsville; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her death.

She also left nineteen grandchildren and two great grand children.

Mrs. Hebert will be greatly missed by all her acquaintances as she was a loving wife and mother and lived only for her home and family and to do all she could for anyone needing her kind assistance.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Lynn Pickett, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. C. Hebert, Stratford; Mrs. John Fuller, Marion Fuller, Leo Hebert, Mrs. D. A. Clark, Mrs. Sam Hause, Mrs. W. Thayer, Lester Kenyon and Dave Hebert, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hebert, Romco; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hebert and Mrs. G. S. Ingham, Spencer; Mrs. Lester Binning, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Pickett and daughter Hazel, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Christian Oestreich, Spencer; Mrs. Leonard Luber, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Copet, Riplinger; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Powers, Baraboo.

Pall bearers were Lloyd, Forest, Glenn, and Harry Hebert, Fred Meacham and Frank Bishop. Floral tributes were carried by four nieces: Isobel, Genevieve, Hazel and Audrey Pickett.

The services were conducted by Rev. Harry Lee, pastor at Hope Chapel, Monday afternoon. Interment was made in Spencer cemetery.
