Schumacher, Adelia (Marriage - 8 Aug. 1939)

A pretty mid-summer wedding was solemnized at South Ridge Lutheran Church, La Crescent, Minn., Tuesday, August 8, when Miss Adelia Schumacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Schumacher, of RFD 2, Houston, Minn., was united in marriage to Erich H. Sievert of Neillsville, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Sievert of Watertown, Wis., Rev. E. G. Hertler of La Crescent, Minn., performed the marriage rites, the double-ring ceremony being used. The Rev. William A. Baumann of Neillsville delivered the address.

Pink, blue and white streamers on the benches and ferns were the church decorations.

A gown of white brocaded marquisette, full with train was worn by the bride. She wore elbow length mitts and a long flowing veil of plan tulle, fastened at the top of her head with natural roses, held in place with her grandmother’s gold bar pin. Miss Pauline Schumacher, sister of the bride, acting as maid of honor, wore pink net over pink moiré taffeta, trimmed with tiny blue bows on the skirt under net, and at the neck and waist. The bridal bouquet consisted of Lestra Hibbard roses, white pompon asters and gypsophila, tied with white sheer chiffon. Her head dress was a pink net hat. The bridesmaid, Miss Eleanor Lahman of Owosso, Michigan, who was a student at the same college attended by the bride and groom, wore a similar gown and hat in blue. Their bouquets were made up of Briareliff roses, blue delphinium and pink pompon asters.

Richard Sievert, twin brother of the groom, was best man. The ushers were Julius Kletzke, La Crosse, Edwin Schumacher, brother of the bride, and her cousin, Joseph Wolter. Mary Carol Jore, a niece of the bride, dressed in blue d’esprit, trimmed with pink bows, was flower girl.

The bride’s mother wore rose beige lace and Mr. Sievert’s mother wore rose sheer, both wearing blue bachelor buttons and ferns.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents where 60 guests were entertained at dinner. The house decorations were pink, blue and white streamers with white wedding bells between double doors. A white bell was placed over the dinner table and another over the place where the bride and groom were seated. The waitresses were Missed Edna Tews and Edna Bruss of Neillsville and Miss Alvina Stelter of Milwaukee.

The couple left on a two weeks wedding trip through northern Wisconsin, her going-away-outfit being a dark blue silk suit with white accessories. Upon their return, they will be at home in Neillsville where their house is ready for occupancy.

The bride is a charming young woman, refined and talented. Her knowledge of the domestic arts which she received in the home of her parents will add much to the happiness of the new home. She is employed in St. John’s Lutheran School of Neillsville, where she has taught the lower grades for several years, having received her education in the high school and college departments of Dr. Martin Luther College at New Ulm.

Mr. Sievert is a graduate of the same college and a member of Phi Delta Sigma fraternity. He has been principal of St. John’s Lutheran School here for a number of years, his work in that institution being recognized as the best and he is well liked and respected by the patrons of the school and by the citizens of Neillsville, Wis.
