Ehlert, Louise (8 Dec. 1867 - 20 July 1939)

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church Monday, July 24, at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Charles Ehlert, who passed away at her home at 1215 South 56th Street, West Allis, Thursday, July 20, at the age of 71 years, seven months and 13 days, of a heart ailment. Interment was made at Good Hope Cemetery of that city.

Louise Rose was born December 8, 1867, at Crystal Lake, Ill. On December 18, 1884, she was married to Charles Ehlert, making their home at Crystal Lake until 1904 when they came to Clark County and purchased a tract of land near Columbia, where she passed through the hardships and privations of pioneer life.

In 1934, being unable to care for their farm, because of illness of her husband, they mobbed to West Allis. She devoted her time to her home and family, yet found time to lend a helping hand to her neighbors in times of need.

Eight children were born to them: August, dying in infancy, and George, listed among the casualties of World War; Arthur of Thorp; Erich of Palmyra; Louise, at home; Carl of Neillsville; (Laura) Mrs. W. L. Biggs, of Milwaukee and (Marie) Mrs. Walter Wegner of Neillsville, Wis.

The following also survive: Seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Fred of Crystal Lake, Frank of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Wilson of Seattle, Wash.

Her husband preceded her in death June 30, 1937.
