Briggs, Howard Nelson (31 Dec. 1857 - 5 Dec. 1931)

Howard Nelson Briggs was born in Whitestone, in the state of New York, on Dec. 31, 1857, and passed away at his home in Humbird, Wis. about 10 o’clock Saturday morning. Dec. 5, 1931, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 5 days. For over a year he had been a patient sufferer, awaiting the final summons.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Free Methodist (church) with Rev. E. A. Wolfe, officiating and burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Mr. Briggs came to Wisconsin in early manhood and located at Cedar Falls. In 1886 he was married to Harriett Neville, at Prairie Farm and in August 1913 the family moved to Humbird, which has been their home since that time.

Mourning his death are his wife, and five children, Eula, Max, Allen, Keith, and Lawrence; also three sisters, two residing in the state of Washington and one in Superior; besides other relatives and many friends.
