Slowiak, Henry N. (May 19, 1925 - June 14, 2005)

Henry N. Slowiak, age 80, lifelong resident of the Town of Thorp, Junction area, passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, WI.

A Christian Burial Mass was held on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church, Junction with Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends and family called on Thursday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary recited by the Stanley Knights of Columbus Emer-Quinn Council #3249.

Hank was born May 19, 1925 in the Town of Thorp, Clark County, WI, the son of Anthony & Frances (Ciolkosz) Slowiak. He grew up in the junction area and attended rural schools. He was united in marriage to Frances Olocki on June 10, 1950 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, WI. They lived and farmed in the Junction area, Town of Thorp since their marriage. During this time Hank also worked for the Town of Thorp operating the patrol grader for a number of years. He was also an active member of the Stanley Knights of Columbus Emer-Quinn Council #3249 of which he was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Mother Seton Council, a longtime member of St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church in Junction he was also a school board member for the Stanley-Boyd school system in the early 1970’s for a number of years. During his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking and welding.

Hank is survived by his children: Patricia Slowiak of St. Louis, MO, Eugenia (Calvin) Schultze of Stanley, WI, Michael (Joelyn) Slowiak of Kiel, WI and Andrew Slowiak of Stanley, WI; 5 grandchildren;7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Walter Slowiak of Arlington Heights, IL, Vince (Mary) Slowiak of Thorp, WI, John (Alice) Slowiak of Park Ridge, IL, and Ted (Dorothy) Slowiak of Niles, IL; sisters: Anna Leja of Stanley, WI, Julie Pober of Indiana, and Theresa and Vickie Slowiak of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frances in April of 2005; five children in infancy, a brother Alex Slowiak; and three sisters: Wanda Chuey, Louise St. Lawrence, and Mary Dubicki.
