Baker, Thomas Edward (August 5, 1941 - July 2, 2005)

Thomas Edward Baker, age 63, of Gilman, WI passed away on July 2, 2005 at his residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Gilman, WI on August 5, 1941 the son of Edward Leon & Margaret (Evelsgard) Baker. He grew up in the Gilman area attending area schools graduating from Gilman High School in 1959. Beginning at age 16 he worked at Drangle Foods for 17 years and the Bellinger Cheese Factory for 5 years. He was united in marriage to Gladys Kostick on May 13, 1961 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI. They farmed together for 45 years.

Tom is survived by his wife Gladys of Gilman, WI; three children: Edward (Natalie) Baker of Thorp, WI; Paulette (Phil) Kubishak of Thorp, WI and Julie (Andy) Wasylko of Gilman, WI; his mother, Margaret Baker of Gilman, WI; three grandsons: Michael & Tyler Person and Ben Baker; and three granddaughters: Katie, Charlotte & Molly Baker; two brothers: Bob (Sharon) Baker of Gilman, WI and Russell (Bev) Baker of Trevor, WI; and three sisters: Eleanor Warner of Gilman, WI and Patricia Jackson and Karen (Jesse) Jones both of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Leon Baker.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church for 44 years.

Tom liked deer hunting and ice fishing and loved farming. He had the most wonderful sense of humor and could tell the best jokes.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s polish National Catholic Church with burial in the parish cemetery with Fr. Marian Talaga officiating. Friends called on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers were Michael & Tyler Person, Donald Baker, David Warner and Randy & Brian Kostick.

Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
