Martin, Abdill C. (14 MAR 1845 - 5 MAR 1929)

Abdill Colwel Martin was born in Indiana Co., Penn., Mar. 14, 1845, and died at Fairchild, Wis., Mar. 5, 1929, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 19 days.

At the age of ten years he came to McConnell, Ill. On Christmas Day, 1865, he was united in marriage to Hadessah F. Garman. They resided on a farm near McConnell until November 1910, when they moved to Republic Kansas. They remained there until the spring of 1914, when they moved to Fairchild (Eau Claire Co., Wis.).

To this union were born eight children, three sons and five daughters. Those left to mourn his death are Mrs. Viola Ferguson and Charles Martin of Woodruff, Wis.; John D. Martin of Palo Alto, Calif.; Mrs. Elsie Schramm of Freeport, Ill.; Minnie, Estella, and Earl, at home. One daughter, Emma E., died in infancy, and his wife preceded him in the Great Beyond three years ago.

He united with the Lutheran Church when a boy, and later became a member of the Methodist Church, and for many years was active in the church and Sunday school. He was a kind husband and very devoted father to his children. Mr. Martin was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Orangeville, Ill.

The funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon of last week, and were attended by many sorrowing friends. The remains were taken to Lena, Ill. For burial.
