Spry, Robert L. (28 JUL 1927 - 15 SEP 2006)

Robert L. "Bob" Spry. 79, Granton, died on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room, Marshfield. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 2-4 p.m., at the Sportsman Club, Granton, with family and friends.

Robert L. Spry was born on July 28, 1927, in Granton, to Lloyd and Hildegard (nee Prange) Spry. He attended Granton schools and then entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He married Audrey Pickett on Aug. 18, 1951, ay the Methodist Church, Granton.

He worked the family feed mill known as W.J. Spry and sons, Granton. He later owned and operated A&W Root Beer stands in Waupaca and Paris. Ill. Known as the "egg man" he transported fresh eggs from the farm to the egg processor and also sold Frazier Christmas trees in the western states. In retirement years, he drove truck for Marshfield Canning Company. He was Granton village president for 14 years and was instrumental in promoting the Granton Park. He was a member of the Air Stream Travelers and enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. Christmas found him being Santa Clause to children and families in the area. Due to failing health, they moved to Three oaks Assisted Living, Marshfield, within the last month.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Audrey Spry, currently of Marshfield; four sisters, Ruth Lehman, Fairfax, Va., Maxine (Raymond) Workman, Vadnais Heights, Minn., Bonnie (Ace) Hill, Poughkeepsie, New York, and Nancy (Chuck) Anderson, Stevens Point; nieces, nephews; and extended family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters, Marian Burnett and Alyce June Radtke.

Maurina/Community Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
