Cole, Minnie (20 April 1863 - 25 April 1939)

Mrs. John Charles Cole, mother of Mrs. Harry Hauge of this city, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Neillsville hospital after an illness of about two weeks, suffering two paralytic strokes.

Minnie Schaefer was born on a farm at Black Hawk, Sauk County, Wisconsin, April 20, 1863, to Christian and Elizabeth Schaefer, having reached her 76th year last week, Thursday.

She was married to John Charles Cole, at Black Hawk, February 5, 1890. Three children were born to this union: (Sarah Elizabeth) Mrs. Harry Hauge, Neillsville; (Bessie Irene) Mrs. Gordon Kavolski, Horicon; and John Walter Cole, Dallas, Texas, all of whom survive their parents. There are also four grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Caroline Sprecher of Independence and one brother, George Schaefer, of Rochester, Minn.

Mrs. Cole came to Neillsville about three years ago and purchased a home on West Seventh Street. She was a quiet home-loving woman, charming and courteous of manner and lived a truly Christian Life.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 o’clock p.m. at the Schiller Funeral home, Rev. Linden Veil of Oshkosh, a nephew of the deceased, conducting the rites. Mrs. Veil sang one of Mrs. Cole’s favorite hymns "Just as I Am." The remains were interred beside the husband at Necedah.

C., and came to Merrillan by train, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sprecher, Independence; Dr. and Mrs. A. O. Torson, Independence; Rev. and Mrs. Linden Veil; and others from various points in Wisconsin.
