Morton, Robert (27 Sept. 1880 - 12 April 1939)

Mrs. Mabel M. Canfield of Tulsa, Okla., under date of April 22, writes: "We old Clark Countyites were shocked and saddened by the announcement of the death of Robert Morton, just two weeks after the death of his sister, Mrs. T. W. Preston."

Robert Morton passed away while at work at Maud, Okla., early Wednesday morning; April 12. Funeral services were conducted by an old friend, the Rev. Allen, at Bartlesville, with the Bartlesville post of Spanish-American War Veterans assisting at the grave.

Mr. Morton was born on a farm at Shortville September 27, 1880, the family later moving to Granton. He was one of the men sworn into the service of the Spanish-American war, when Lieutenant (later Captain) Ole Jackson and Corporal William A. Campman returned to the states after about 30 recruits.

He went to Oklahoma with his family and had worked for the Wilcox Oil and Gas Company for more then 20 years.

Deceased is survived by his wife and three children, one sister and a grandchild. His parents and a small daughter preceded him in death.
