Willard Coryell was born at Orfordville, Rock Co., Wisconsin, October 25, 1913. He died Monday P.M. April 5, 1937 at his home one-half mile west of Loyal at the age of 23 years, 5 months, 10 days. His mother died at his birth. A brother also preceded him in death.

When six years of age he came to Loyal with his father and sisters to the farm which remained his home until his death. He entered the Loyal school and was a pupil here until the middle of his Junior High School year.

About eighteen months ago he left Loyal for a western sight-seeing trip which included California. When he returned to Wisconsin he secured work near the home of two of his sisters near Lake Geneva. He became foreman of a large dairy farm. In January he had an attack of influenza and from this he never fully recovered his health.

About a month ago he returned home as the family hoped with rest and care his condition would improve. At times it seemed their hopes might be realized but he gradually grew worse until the time of his death.

Those who knew Willard loved him and his death has caused a grief that time alone will heal. His was a quiet, kindly, unselfish disposition. Perhaps to quote from a letter written by the wife of his last employer will best portray the esteem all held for him. She wrote, "He was so very near to us—just like one of the family" and "Willard was one of the finest young men we have known and will always live in our memories as such. We wanted him to stay not only for his very good work but because he had such a fine character and was so clean-cut."

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 P.M. and at the Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. Thursday. The Rev. R. J. Fleming officiated.

He is survived by his father, Mr. Frank Coryell, his step-mother, five sisters and a step-brother. His sisters together with their husbands attended the funeral. They were Mrs. John Warosh (Marion), Edgar; Mrs. Russell Mellien (Marie), Lake Geneva; Mrs. Gordon Frening (Myrtle), Lake Geneva; Mrs. Jens Jensen (Eva), Loyal; and Miss Dorothy Coryell, R.N., Bayfield Sanitorium. His step-brother Wm. Coryell and wife of Rockford, Ill., also came to the funeral.

Pall bearers were Rudolph Steiner, Oscar Fricke, Franklin, Franklin Rueth, Richard Larson, John Beaver, and Gerhardt Zielsdorf. In charge of the many beautiful floral offerings were Ruth Kreuser, Ruth Lindner, Clarabelle Larson, Grace Castner, Marion Rueth, and Dorothy Beaver.

Interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.
