Trader, August (3 AUG 1843 - 20 MAR 1926)

August Trader was born in West Prussia, Germany, August 3, 1843, and died at his home two miles from Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday evening, March 20, 1926, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 17 days.

He grew to manhood in his home community, and was there united in marriage to Miss Rosalia Radtke. To this happy union, four children have brought blessedness.

About the year 1883, Mr. Trader and his family came to this country, and lived for a few years in Garden Valley (Jackson Co., Wis.). He then purchased the place east of town, which has since been his home. He enjoyed good health and was active in his farm duties, with his elder son, Fifteen years ago death took the wife and mother from the home. Since then Mr. Trader has lived in retirement, and during the past few years failing eyesight and the frailties of old age kept him confined to the house the greater part of the time.

He leaves to mourn his death, his four children: Clem, who resides on the home farm, Joseph of Fall Creek, Mrs. Hattie Blang, Mrs. Anna Putman, both living in this vicinity, and twelve grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C.F. Klein preaching the sermon, and the remains were laid at rest in the Mentor Cemetery. Relatives from away attending the services were his son Joseph and family of Fall Creek, and his brother-in-law, Joseph Radtke of Alma Center.

Deceased was one of the older residents of this vicinity and was much respected by a large circle of friends. he was a kind, yet just father, and will be greatly missed by the children and grandchildren.
