Hurlburt, Opal (July 9, 1922 -May 9, 2005)

Opal (Heath) Hurlburt, of Humbird, passed away at the age of 82 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, on May 9, 2005.

Opal was born on July 9, 1922 in Merrillan to Leroy and Mabel (Schoolcraft) Heath. She attended the Wrightsville School.

She married Walter Hurlburt in 1939 and they lived in Oconomowoc. Walter preceded her in death in 1973.

For over 20 years, Opal has shared her life with her special friend, Jim Fitzmaurice.

She was employed as a school bus driver by the Alma Center School District for over 10 years. She enjoyed doing cross-words, word searches, and puzzles. She also loved to sew, do crafts, travel and visit with her family and friends.

She is survived by a son Joe (Yvonne) Hurlburt, of Escondido, CA; daughter, Gayle (Jeff) Soppeland, of Cadott; daughter-in-law, Tammie Hurlburt, of Rockland; two sisters, Vera Moldenhauer, of Traverse City, MI and Grace Gohde, of Merrillan; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, Walter, Opal was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John and David; three brothers; and a sister.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home www.buswellfuneralhome.com and burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, both in Black River Falls.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
