Heldt, Florence C. (October 21, 1918 - August 28, 2006)

Florence C. Heldt, age 87, of Owen, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Clark County Health care Center, Owen, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, Wis. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Father Paul Gitter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Steve Lonsdorf, Matt Jankee, Ron Kroll, John Kroll, Jonathan Jankee, and Greg Purgett.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen and Friday from 10:00 until service time at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at the funeral home. Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Florence was born October 21, 1918 in Athens to Anton and Katharine (Schreier) Schiepek. She graduated from Athens High School where she was Salutatorian of her class. She also attended Marathon County Normal School. Florence and Herman Heldt were married August 17, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2003. They lived in Athens where she worked at the local grocery store. They moved to the Town of Hoard, Owen in 1950. She worked at Times Federal Savings Bank, for Holy Rosary Catholic School, at the Clark County Health Care Center, at the Owen High School and babysat. She enjoyed gardening and horseback riding. Florence also helped compose music for her husband, sang and accompanied on various instruments. She mostly enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, helping them in so many ways. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the PCCW, and volunteered at the Clark County Health Care Center after retiring.

Florence is survived by her children, Judy (Bob) Kroll of thorp, Jean (David) Jankee of Owen, and Stella (Tim) Lonsdorf of Wausau, 18 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman, a daughter Jessica Purgett, her sisters and brothers Celia Wilger, Mary Bunkee, Anne Kauten, Elizabeth Maleck, Frank and Joseph Schiepek.
