Hoops, John (2 Oct. 1855 - 1947)

John Hoops, 91 who resided in the community for the past 48 years passed away at the home of his son, Henry Hoops, in the Town of Sherman at 10:15 o'clock Sunday night of old age complications. The body will be in state at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 11:00 A.M. thursday when it will be taken to the Trinity Lutheran Church, where it will rest until funeral services which will be held there at 2 P.M., Rev. A. C. Stapel will officate and burial will be made in the West Spencer Cemetery.

John Hoops was born at Cedarburg, October 2, 1855 and was married to Miss Pauline Natzke on Feb. 28, 1878 at Wayside. Mrs. Hoops preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons, Henry Martin and Ervin Hoops, Spencer; Herbert Hoops, Fond du Lac; five daughters Mrs. Albert (Lydia) Vanderhoof, Spencer; Mrs. Harry (Sabina) Graham, Sycamore, Il.; Mrs. Frank (Elise) Martin, Fremont; Mrs. Lela Molle, Unity; Mrs. William (Renata) Plath, Spencer; 32 grand children, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grand child.

Four children preceded him in death.
