Barrett, Amy W. (27 JUN 1931)

Miss Amy Westcotte Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Barrett, became the bride of John Arthur Schmocker of Minneapolis, son of Charles W. Schmocker of Owen, Clark Co., Wis., at a ceremony at 8:30 Saturday evening in St. Paul Episcopal Church. The Re. Rev. B. T. Kremerer officiating.

The ceremony was read before a background of baskets of peonies, smilax, ferns and tall cathedral candles in candelabra. Organ selections were played by Carl Borkwald. The wedding march from "Lohengrin" was played as the processional and Mendelssohn’s march was played as the wedding party left the church.

The bride wore a gown of white lace with extremely long skirt which extended in a train in the back. The skirt was fitted at the knees and flared from there. The sleeves were long and tight fitting and the neckline was finished in round style. Her veil was of white tulle. Clusters of orange blossoms were caught at the sides. She carried a shower arrangement of white roses and lilies of the valley. She wore an antique gold cross on an old gold chain. The bride and her father were met at the chancel by the bridegroom and his best man, Maynard Redding of Grand Rapids, Minn.

Members of the bridal party with Mrs. Barrett, mother of the bride, and Mrs. Schmocker, the bridegroom’s mother, received guests at the reception which followed the ceremony. Mrs. Barrett wore a gown of periwinkle blue crepe with a darker blue jacket and footwear to match. Her straw hat was of darker blue and she wore a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Mr. Schmocker’s mother chose a corsage of roses and sweet peas to complement her lace gown.

Assisting about the rooms were Mrs. Sargent McGonagle, Mrs. Geo. K. Nuss, Mrs. Robert Marshall, Mrs. Abner Griffith and Miss Jean Primeau. Friends of the bride who assisted with the serving of the wedding cake included Misses Georgeann Sutherland, Helen Walker, Marion Marshall, Josephine Marshall and Mrs. Edward Bush.

Mr. and Mrs. Schmocker will be at home at 3701 Garfield Av. So., Minneapolis, after July 15. For travel she is wearing a gown of tan crepe and with a brown wool coat trimmed with white pique. Her hat and footwear are of tan and brown.

The bride is a graduate of Carleton College. Mr. Schmocker is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and is a member of the Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Delta Sigma fraternities.
