Cass, Hilma (23 DEC 1881 - 25 FEB 1932)

Mrs. Hilma Cass was born in Joenan, Finland on Dec. 23, 1881. She came to this country in 1907, to Duluth, Minn. In 1908 she married Henry Cass at Duluth and the couple then moved to Fairbanks, Minn., where they lived for six years. In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. H. Cass moved to Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), where they lived for seven years. In 1921 the family moved to Owen (Clark Co.) where they have since lived on a farm north of town. Mrs. Cass’ death occurred on Feb. 25, from a stroke of apoplexy.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, Henry Cass, one daughter, Lily and one son, Eddie Cass, besides two sisters, Mrs. Hanna Salo and Mrs. Theodore Salli, and one brother, Adolph Kettunen, in this country and two brothers and one sister in Finland, besides a host of friends and relatives in this country and in Finland.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Hanna Salo of Chicago; Jalmer Peterson of Chicago; Mrs. Theodore Salli of Brookston, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Eli Cass of Duluth; Mr. and Mrs. August Rasaver and son Uno of Duluth and Karky Bros. and family of Superior.

The funeral services were conducted from her home on Tuesday, March 1, 1932, at 12:00 p.m. with Comrade Walter Harju of Superior officiating. Her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery after the ceremony.
