Kopp, Jacob L. (11 SEP 1988 - 14 AUG 2006)

Jacob L. Kopp, 17, Spencer, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug, 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, North Spencer. The Rev. Rebeekah Tarres officiated. Pallbearers were Doug Redetzke, Darrell Kopp, Bruce Luepke, Denny Thomas, Randy Mellenthin, Al Jicinsky, and Pet Mayer. Honorary pallbearers were Rachael Dieringer, Emily Seefeldt, Steph White, Lauren Veale, Bill Tucker, Brandon Bruger, Andrew Christopherson, Skylor Riehle, and Kevin Connelly.

Jacob Lee Kopp was born Sept. 11, 1988, in Marshfield, to Dennis and Janell (nee Mellenthin) Kopp. He was a senior at Spencer High School. He loved life. He loved playing tricks on his brother and sister, freezing their underwear, hanging their sheets and blankets out in the snow and just picking on them. He loved his room and enjoyed being in there with his keyboard playing TV theme songs and the other silly little songs. He always had a song on his lips and in his heart. He loved to draw and write his J.C. Comics, all 114 volumes. He loved to be with his family and all their yummy food, especially Grandma Jeanie’s lunches and Grandma Cindy’s pies. He always had a pen or watercolor in his hand. We never spent a day from the age 2 to 5 without Barney, Dr. Seuss, Disney sing-a-longs, or the Berenstain Bears. Now it was Veggie Tales. He could imitate any voice and put a voice to Lady, our dog, or the only animal he could tolerate, Moses, the new kitten. He overcame so much with his autism, fear of heights, Butterflies, big blue bridges, and the big gym. We are so proud of him. He loved to act and had all his music memorized for the community musical this fall. He would have been Schroeded. Don’t be sad for him, he’s singing with the best choir in heaven and he’s perfect in every way. Remember his smile and compassion even though he didn’t always know how to express it. He truly loved everyone. He was active in madrigals, Missoula Children’s Theatre, St. John’s Lutheran Church, FFA,FISH, band, Chorus, drama club, National Honor Society, forensics and pep band.

Survivors include his parents Dennis and Janell Kopp, one brother, Brandon Kopp and one sister, Mikayla Kopp, both at home; his grandparents, Wilbur "Pete" and Virjean "Jean" Mellenthin, Spencer, and Clarence "Shorty" and Lucinda "Cindy" Kopp, Stratford.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
