Owen, Caroline (24 FEB 1870 - 16 JUL 1936)

Mrs. Chas. Owen died early Thursday morning, July 16, at the age of 66 years. Death, probably hastened by the extreme heat of the past week was caused by hardening of the arteries.

Mrs. Owen, nee Caroline Wildner, was born at New Lisbon February 24, 1870. She lived there until after her marriage to Chas. Owen in Sept. 1893. They moved to a farm south of Loyal in 1900. Here Mrs. Owen resided until after the death of her husband.

Mrs. Owen has been in poor health since the death of her son, Verne. He died of influenza in a training camp in 1918 during the World war. After the death of her husband in Nov. 1933 she rapidly became worse and for the past three years has been an invalid cared for by Mrs. Henry Vick.

Mrs. Owen was a good woman, a devoted mother and wife, a kind friend, and a true neighbor. In times of sickness and need many were the recipients of her sympathy and generosity.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jess Lawrence of Loyal, three grandsons, one sister Mrs. Louise Bates of Chicago, and one niece, Mrs. Peterson of Kenosha.

The funeral was held in the Methodist Church at 2 P.M. Saturday and Mrs. Owen was laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery. Rev. A. N. Chapman officiated at the services.

Pall bearers were Mr. Henry Vick, Mr. Oscar Herdrich, Mr. Wm. Evans, Mr. Ed. Morse, Mr. Robert Teatz, and Mr. Harley Pigott.
