Weber, Peter (1908? - 11 JUL 1936)

Peter Weber, 28, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weber of the town of Marshfield, and bookkeeper at the Boulevard garage Marshfield was drowned in Rock Creek about, about five miles northwest of here early Saturday morning. Because Weber made no outcry and very little water was expelled from artificial respiration given him, it is thought that he might have suffered a heart attack before going down.

Weber, with Edmund Schultz, left Marshfield at about 10 o’clock Thursday night for Loyal, where they visited friends for a short time and then set out for Rossman’s dam, where the tragedy took place.

About 20 persons were in the pool at the time they arrived, but the group had dwindled to eight or 10 when the group entered the pool, a few minutes after midnight.

They were in the water only about five minutes, and upon emerging missed Weber. Because they had heard no outcry they at first believed that their companion had hidden, but when their calls were not answered they began searching the shallow pool, which was about seven feet deep at its deepest point.

After about 35 minutes searching systematically one of them stepped on the body, which was recovered at about 1:30. No inquest was held.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Michael’s Church, Hewett, at 9:00 A. M. Tuesday, the Rev. Louis Brudeman, officiated, With interment in the parish cemetery.
