Dill, Gilbert "Gib" Norbert (20 Jan. 1915 - 16 Aug. 2006)

Greenwood - Gilbert "Gib" Norbert Dill, 91, of Rock Dam, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, Wis.

Services will be held at 11 a. m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a. m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Greenwood to Julius and Lydia (Kuester) Dill. He settled in Grafton and worked at Pioneer Container in Cederburg, retiring, in 1974. He then moved to Rock Dam.

He is survived by his sister, Beulah Matkovich of Willard, and several nieces and nephews.

Gilbert 'Gib' Dill, age 91 of Rock Dam, died at the Clark County Health Center, in Owen, on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006.

Gilbert Norbert Dill was born on Jan. 20, 1915, in Greenwood, to Julius and Lydia(Kuester)Dill. He was raised and educated in the Greenwood area. After completing his education, Gib worked with his father at the livery stable in Greenwood, cut and hauled firewood, and cut ice on the Black River during winters. He later went to Albert Lea, MN, and worked in the onion fields for a few years, Gib then moved and settled in Granton and worked at Pioneer Container, in Cedarburg, for many years. He retired in 1974 and moved to Rock Dam, where he lived until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in November of 2004. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed auctions and collecting antiques.

He is survived by one sister, Beulah Matkovich, of Willard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Leo, Harvey, Gottlieb, Henry, and Norbert Dill; and three sisters, Alberta Thomas, Julia Mitte and Anita Abel.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 21, at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. James Mohr officiated. Burial took place in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
