Helen A Gay, age 94, formerly of Owen, died Friday April 7, 2006 at Willows Nursing and Rehab Center, Sun Prairie.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, Wis. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery. Father Darell Mitchell officiated. Pallbearers were David, Steven, Robert and Keith Gay, Gregory Braun and William Wiefelspuetz.

Visitation was held from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, Wis. Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Helen was born October 28, 1911 in Chicago to Joseph and Caroline (Wanat) Kargol. Helen and Thaddeus "Ted" Gay were married June 22, 1929 in Chicago. He died February 25, 1997. They farmed in the Town of Hixon and Town of Hoard from 1930-1967. They retired from farming in 1973, moving to Marshfield and returning to Owen, Wis.

Helen was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Monica’s Circle. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid collector. She liked to sing and was a member of the Clark County Homemakers Choir. She was a member of the Eagles Club where she sang and served as secretary.

Helen is survived by her children, Ernest (Marilyn) Gay of Tomahawk; Ervin (Judith) Gay of Marshall; Ted (Diane) Gay of Farmington, Maine; Darlene Braun of Brawley, California; and Shirley (William) Wiefelspuetz of Hartland; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers the family of Helen Gay would like to suggest a memorial to the Willows Nursing and Rehab Center for their loving care.
