Peterson, Amanda Lyn (February 7, 2000 - March 6, 2006)

Amanda Lyn Peterson, age 6, Pittsville, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Amanda was born on February 7, 2000, to Jeff and Lori (Schmelzer) Peterson in Marshfield. She attended Granton Elementary School in Granton.

Amanda’s excitement for life was seen and felt by everyone. She had a great love of nature, animals and the outdoors. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing with her pets and swimming. She was her family’s pride and joy and the memories that were made will remain in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Lori Peterson, of Pittsville; paternal grandparents, John (Ginny) Peterson, of Austin, MN; maternal grandparents, Tom (Nancy) Schmelzer, of The Villages, FL; a great-grandmother, Janet Faulhaber, of Madison; an uncle, Jim (Cindy) Schmelzer, of Atlanta, GA; aunts, Kristin (Stacey) Rupe, of Austin, MN; Lynette (Steve) Rogne, of Rochester, MN; Michelle (Eric) Johnson, of St. Cloud, MN; cousins, Rachel, Tommy and Nicholas Schmelzer; Isaac and Ashlyn Rogne, and Kylea Rupe; her special companions, Kennedy and C.D., her dogs; and Wishbone, her cat; and her many friends at Granton Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by a maternal great-grandmother, Hazel Schmelzer and a paternal great-grandmother, Bernice Potvini.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 11, at the St. Mary of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. A private family burial followed at the Warren Mills Cemetery in Warrens, Wisconsin. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah assisted the family with arrangements.
