THE OPEN SEASON

The open season for hunting woodcock, partridge, pheasant, prairie chickens or prairie hen, grouse, plover or snipe, began Monday, Sept 1, and closes on Sunday, Nov 30. For pursuing game of these varieties at any other time than within this season the law imposes a fine of from $10 to $50, or imprisonment for ninety days.

The season for hunting ducks and all aquatic fowls, excepting wild geese and swan, opens at the same time but does not close till Jan 1. The closed season for geese is from May 1 to September 1, only.

The attention of our readers is also called to the fact that the law provides that every hunter at the *rest is cut off.

AN OPPORTUNITY

The circumstances, which caused Thayer & Sons to close out their furniture business, are a source of regret to the citizens of this village for two reasons. First, they had by hard work and persistent efforts built up a very lucrative business, which was a source of profit to themselves and a credit to the town, and which the people of Unity and vicinity appreciated.

Second, the individual members of the firm were pleasant gentlemen whom it was a pleasure to deal with and whom all were glad to meet in a social or business way.

The demand for a furniture store in Unity is so apparent that it will be but a short time before another one is established. The building in which they located is one of the largest and best in town, located on one of the principal business streets, two doors from the post office. Although available for almost any other business, the peculiar construction and location of the building makes it particularly adaptable for a furniture store.

We understand that the property is for sale and anyone looking for a location for a business of this nature would do well to secure this property. A good lively business has been worked up which if allowed to remain dead for any length of time will slip back into its old channel which took it to other near by towns and to mail order houses. The opportunity is a golden one and if grasped at once the nucleus of a large and profitable business can be established in a short time and the trade that legitimately belongs here will remain.

As an illustration of what the furniture trade is becoming here, we would state that when Thayer & Sons decided to close out they had about a $1200 stock on hand.

Inside of three days from the time they advertised a closing out sale, the entire stock, with tow or three articles excepted, was closed out.
