Jarvis, Annis (17 OCT 1855 - 15 SEP 1916)

Mrs. Annis Mariette Jarvis passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maud Gage, at Forestville, N.Y., on Sept. 15th, 1916, at 4:30 a.m., after a long and painful illness.

Deceased was born at Clyman, Dodge Co., Wis., Oct. 17th, 1855. On June 6th, 1871, she came with her parents and settled on a homestead near Loyal, Clark Co., Wis. She taught several terms of school near Loyal and Neillsville, Wis. On. Aug. 31st, 1874, she was united in marriage with Frank Jarvis. To them were born six children, who, with two sisters and thirteen grandchildren, survive her. They resided at Greenwood, Clark Co., until 1876, when they settled on their farm in what is now the town of Green Grove. In 1885 they moved to Colby and resided here until the death of Mr. Jarvis sixteen years ago. The past few years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Grace Holton, town of Holton, or Mrs. Maud Gage, Forestville, N.Y.

Mrs. Jarvis will long be remembered for her bright and happy manner by her many friends in Colby, where she resided many years. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a true friend, highly respected by all who knew her. It was the writer’s good fortune to have known her long and well, and we only knew her to esteem her more highly as the years passed.

After a short service at the home of her son Frank in Unity, the remains were brought to the M.E. Church, in this city, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.C. Hall. Interment took place in the Colby Cemetery.
