Olson, Patrick A. (10 OCT 1966 – 7 JUN 2006)

Patrick A. Olson, 39, Marathon, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at St. Mary’S Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

He was born October 10, 1966, in Milwaukee, to Dennis Olson, Greenwood and Audrey Olsen, Loyal. On June 10, 1989, he married Susan Miller in Loyal. She survives. A 1985 graduate of Loyal High School, he joined the National Guard in 1988 and attended North Central Technical College from 1989 until graduation in 1991 with an associates degree in police science. He was employed as a part-time Marathon City Police Officer from 1991 until 1995, when he became a deputy with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department. He represented District 7 as a director of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association and was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association. As an avid outdoorsman, his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, and going to the Hodag. He was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic softball player.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Jaron, both at home; his father, Dennis (Judy) Olson, Greenwood. his mother, Audrey Olsen, Loyal; three sisters, Kelly (Travis) Berndt, Wausau, Tracy Malm, Durand, and Cheryl Olson, Mountain Home, Ark.; a grandfather, Arthur Olson, Loyal; a step grandfather, Vincent Lindner, Loyal; his father-in-law, Raymond E. (Delores) Miller, Spencer; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. He will be sadly missed by his two canine companions, Duke and Maji.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Paul Olson; grandparents, Oscar and Ermina Olson; grandmother, Beverly Olson; a cousin, Todd Olson; and his mother-in-law, Norma Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church or School, Marathon.
