Johnson, August (8 JUN 1847 - 18 MAR 1915)

Capt. August Johnson died at his farm home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., near Cherokee, Thursday evening, March 18th, 1915, in the 68th year of his age.

Deceased was born in Strumstadt, Sweden, June 8th, 1847, and when a young man came to America. He took to the Lake traffic and acquired the title of Master or Captain. He was married Jan. 5th, 1877, in Milwaukee, to Mrs. Adelaide Alpers. A few years later he purchased the farm in the town of Hull, but kept his work on the lakes. Came here to reside on his farm in the year 1903. About three years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, but was able to be up and around until within a few days of his death. He elaves his widow and one son Albert, of Chicago.

The remains were taken to Manistee, Mich. For burial on the Friday night limited, accompanied by the widow and son.
