Betz, William D. (22 Dec. 1880 - 10 Sept. 1937)

William D. Betz, a resident of Clark County for nearly 35 y ears, died at his home in the town of Seif of a heart attack Friday, Sept. 10. The deceased was 57 years old, having been born Dec. 22, 1880, at Eau Claire, the son of John and Frances Betz.

Betz was married Oct. 22, 1904 to Della E. Schiller of Neillsville, and to them were born five children who also mourn his loss: John Betz of town of Weston, Frank Betz of St. Paul, Mrs. Paul Spaete of Granton and Mrs. Magnus Henrich of St. Paul. There are two grandchildren, Robert and Beverly Spaete of Granton. Three sisters, Mrs. Monte Hansen and Mrs. Earle Towers of Mauston and Mrs. Henry Leinenkugel of Chippewa Falls survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 3 o’clock in the Schiller Funeral home, and interment was in the Catholic Cemetery in this city. Pallbearers were James Paulus, Archie Van Gordon, Charles Bollom, Henry Wasserburger, Otto May, and George Meihauk, and flower attendants Mrs. James Paulus, Mrs. Clarence Nowack, and Mrs. Rolland Quicker.

Out of town relatives and friends present were: Mrs. Dora Betz, William Korn, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Korn, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schaaf, Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Erity, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Leinenkugel, Mrs. Rosa Betz, of Eau Claire; Mrs. Earl Towers, Mrs. George Heath and daughter Jean and son Francis, John and Walter Towers, Mrs. Monte Hansen, John Hansen, and Harold Hansen families of Mauston; Mrs. Henry Leinenkugel of Chippewa; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Liebau of Rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Schiller of Greenwood; Miss Mildred Schiller of Madison, and Mr. and Mrs. John Kriedler and family of Stratford.
