Yelke, Fred (27 DEC 1857 - 9 JAN 1915)

Fred Yelke of the town of Frankfort (Marathon Co., Wis.), died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he was receiving treatments, at 9 o’clock Saturday evening, Jan. 9th, 1915, of acute leukemia, aged 57 years and 13 days.

Deceased was born in Schlotheim, Germany, Dec. 27th, 1857. He was married to Karoline Schreivogel in October 1876. Came to America in October 1892, first settling in Chicago. He came to Colby July 1899, and settled on a farm in the town of Frankfort. He was an honest, hardworking man, a good citizen and neighbor. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Otto of Chicago; Mrs. Anna Sauerland of Michigan; Mrs. Bertha Hohndorf of town of Frankfort; Mrs. Ida Meyer of Chicago, Fred of Chicago; Sam, living at home; and Mrs. Ada Briske of Chicago, all of whom were at the funeral, except the daughter in Michigan.

The funeral was held from St. John’s Ev. German Church in this city, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. M. Lienk officiating. Interment was at the Colby Cemetery.
