Dirksmeyer, Joe C. (October 29, 1917 - September 22, 2005)

Joe C Dirksmeyer, age 87, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 29, 1917 in Cudahy, WI, to Charles and Catherine (Ginster) Dirksmeyer. He spent his early life in Cudahy and received his education at Sacred Heart School. On October 30, 1935, in St. Fredericks’s Church in Cudahy he was united in marriage to Frances Marie Hammes, who preceded him in death on February 13, 2000. Following marriage they moved to Burlington. Joe had been a resident of Burlinigton for the past 66 years. Joe was a farmer and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also an avid horseman and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Jim Ehlen) Chrast of Elkhorn; Margie (Ken) Robers of Burlington; Judy (Don) Morrow of Neillsville; and Jeanne (Bill) Vogt of Janesville; and by his son, Duane (Nancy) Dirksmeyer of Burlington. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his grandson, Tom Morrow; his great-granddaughter, Erika Morrow; his son-in-law, Jerry Chrast; sisters, Esther Koenig and Peggy Kuntz; and by his brother Ted Dirksmeyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burlington. Rev. Joseph Debski officiated. Burial took place on Tuesday, September 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
