Leffel, Henry Sr. (April 18, 1889-February 3, 1974)

Services were held for Henry Leffel sr., 84, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, on Wednesday, February 6, at 2 p.m., Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiating. Interment was in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Leffel died Sunday at the Colonial House of Colby where he was taken after suffering a stroke from which he did not recover on January 10.

He was born April 18, 1889, in the town of Eau Pleine, Marathon county, and received his education in local schools. His marriage to Dorothy Meyer took place in 1912 at Colby. She preceded him in death in 1919.

After marriage he lived in the towns of Frankfort and Halder and worked in the woods much of his younger life. He farmed in the Medford area from 1930 to 1948 when he moved to the town of Frankfort where he lived and retired.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Colby.

Surviving are a son, Henry Leffel, jr., Colby, three daughters, Miss Bernita Leffel, Colby, Mrs. Willis (Lucille) Lueck, Schofield, and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Benn, Schofield, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

[Note: A later notice, printed in the same newspaper on February 21, 1974, notes, "Pallbearers, all nephews of Mr. Leffel, were Elroy, Melvin, Milford, Delmar and Vernon Leffel."]
