Olson, Harvey E. (8 SEP 1965 - 14 JUN 2019)

Harvey E. Olson, 91, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 14, 2019, at his home under tender care hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Tim Oudenhoven will preside. Military honors provided by Colby VFW Post No. 2227 will follow the service. Visitation will occur at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, until the time of service. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with arrangements.

Harvey was born on Oct. 19, 1927, the son of Harry and Mary (Zahorka) Olson, in Abbotsford. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1945. He enlisted and served in the United States Army. On April 17, 1948, Harvey married Pearl Foss. They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Harvey was a cheesemaker, then worked for Biron Paper in Wisconsin Rapids for 13 years, and lastly worked for Land O’Lakes in Spencer for over 20 years.

Harvey enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their events and other activities. Most importantly, Harvey cherished his family.

Harvey leaves behind his wife, Pearl of Abbotsford; five children: Richard (Ruth) of Chippewa Falls, DuWayne (Barb) of Abbotsford, Barb (Jim) Stuttgen of Stratford, Diane (Kevin) Harris of Neillsville and Michael (June) of Abbotsford; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Anna Foss of Marshfield; along with many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; his sister, Mildred Hanson; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
