King, Melvin LaVerne (May 23, 1936 - October 5, 2005)

Melvin King age 69, of Neillsville, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at his home in Neillsville, Wis.

Melvin LaVerne King was born on May 23, 1936 in Neillsville, the son of Elgar and Hilda (Dollase) King. He attended the Silver Crest School until the 8th grade, and then worked on the family farm. During his life he farmed and bartended until he bought his own bar in Owen, Wis. He then ran his bar until he retired at age 62. Later, he came to Neillsville to live with his brother Donald and Marilyn, where he lived until his passing with them by his side.

Melvin is survived by one sister, Carol (Gordon) Zickert, of Neillsville; four brothers, Harry (Esther) King, of Neillsville; William King, of Berlin; Maynard (Shirley) King and Donald (Marilyn) King, of Neillsville, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene King; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Jerry) Armstrong; and a nephew, Brad King.

He was loved by his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be sadly missed by his buddy Snuggles.

Funeral services for Melvin were held Monday, October 10, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Gordon officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket Bearers wee Cody, Roger and Tim King, Mark Struensee, Ryan Setzer and Gary Anderson. The Honorary Casket Bearer was Barry Fetting.

A special thank you to our parents for the wonderful care they gave our uncle and keeping his wishes to stay home until his passing.
