Martin, Lois (25 June 1925 - 18 Jan. 2006)

MADISON - Lois Martin, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on June 25, 1925, in Butler, the daughter of Darwin and Emma (Phillips) Martin.

Lois retired from Dane County Title Company. She enjoyed volunteering for several children's organizations, including helping kids and adults at school with reading and braille. Lois also enjoyed cuddling infants at the infant intensive care unit. She was a member at Plymouth Congregational Church and taught Sunday school.

Lois is survived by two siblings, Judson Martin of Merritt Island, Fla. and Alice Martin of Maui, Hawaii; a brother-in-law, Jay Atkinson of Long Beach, Calif.; nine nieces and nephews, Robert (Rennae) Quast, Susan Sevedge, Lois Ann (Rick) Herbst, Chris (Mari) Martin, Karen Cupp, Marjean (Perry) Henderson, John (Kathy) Atkinson, Phillip (Merlene) Atkinson and Paul (Julie) Atkinson; 14 great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Josephine Quast and Marjorie Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, with the Rev. Donald Cottom presiding.

Private burial will be held at the Town of Seif Cemetery in rural Neillsville, Wis. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
