Mead, Harry (19 NOV 1833 - 5 MAR 1911)

Mr. Harry Mead, one of Clark County, Wisconsin’s oldest pioneers, died at his home southwest of this village on Sunday evening, March 5th, 1911, at 8 o’clock, the cause of his death being pneumonia. (Withee Sentinel)

Harry Mead was born in Duchess County, N.Y. in 1833. He came with his parents to Jefferson County, Wis. in 1845, where he lived until 1865, when he came to Clark County, and engaged in lumbering and farming. He was married in 1861. He was one of the best known men throughout the county, having been connected with county affairs for years. He represented the town of Warner on the County Board many years, and after moving from the farm to the city of Greenwood, represented that city on the board. He was twice elected chairman.

The funeral services were held in the M.W.A. Hall at Greenwood, Friday afternoon, under the auspices of the Masonic order, of which he was a member. The interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
