Married, at St. Bernard’s Church on Wednesday morning, June 13th, 1934, by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide, Miss Catherine Mertens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mertens, and Mr. John Huzaga, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Huzaga, Sr. of Stanley. Miss Marie Mertens, sister of the bride,, and Miss Mary Huzaga, sister of the groom, attended the bride, and the groom’s attendants were Leo Wellner and Anton Swierkowski. The bride wore a dress of white satin with a lace jacket and carried a bouquet of white roses and calla lilies. Miss Marie Mertens’ dress was of pink silk crepe and she carried pink roses, and Miss Huzaga’s dress was of yellow silk crepe and she also carried pink roses. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony at the church, with about seventy-five people attending. In the evening a free wedding dance was given at Mileaway pavilion, an immense crowd attending. The newlyweds will be at home on a farm near Thorp.
