Tambornino, Mr./Mrs. Henry (Golden - 16 Oct. 1944)

Colby - Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tambornino observed their golden wedding anniversary on Monday, Oct. 16, at their home in Colby.

At 8:15 a.m. a Solemn High Mass in honor of the couple was celebrated by the Rev. Augustine Borkowski. In attendance, beside their children, were Mrs. Mary Truitt, Perham, Minn., and Felix Tambornino, Duluth, Minn., bridesmaid and best man at the wedding ceremony performed Oct. 16, 1894 in St. Henry, Minn. Mrs. Truitt is a sister of Mrs. Tambornino and the two men are cousins.

Dinner and Reception

Mrs. Tambornino was attired in a black crepe dress trimmed with sequins and Mrs. Truitt wore a blue crepe frock. Both had corsages of yellow roses and Mrs. Tambornino wore a pin that she had worn on her wedding day. The daughters and granddaughters wore pink and white carnation corsages and gold hair ribbons and the other guests had gold leaf boutonnieres.

A dinner and reception for 75 guests was held at the Tambornino home decorated with bouquets of cut flowers. A three tier wedding cake and gold leaf decorations formed the centerpiece at the table. A small piece of the original wedding cake was preserved and redecorated for this occasion.

The Tamborninos received many gifts.

Live in Colby

Mr. Tambornino and his wife were both born at St. Henry, Minn., on May 16, he in 1868 and she in 1877. After their marriage on Oct. 16, 1894, they made their home on a farm near St. Henry for 25 years. Since then they have lived on farms in Marathon County and in 1944 retired and moved to Colby.

Then of their 13 children were present at the anniversary celebration, Mrs. Martin Weix, Mrs. Nora Kriplean, of Colby, Miss Lorraine Tambornino, Los Angeles, Calif.; Miss Inez Tambornino, Milwaukee; Mrs. Theresa Schumacher, Fenwood; Mrs. Elizabeth Bell, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Margaret Toresinski, Athens; Henry and Charles Tambornino, Edgar, and Richard Tambornino, Antigo. One son and two daughters are dead. They have 23 grandchildren.

Other out of town guests present included Mrs. Mary Truitt and daughter, Edna of Perham, Minn.; Felix Tambornino, Duluth, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tambornino, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Beckel, Kasota, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Behr, Le Center, Minn.
