Leffel, Louisa (6 SEP 1861 - 28 FEB 1948)

UNITY, Wis. - Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Louisa Leffel, 86, who died as a result of a heart ailment at 11:45 p.m. Friday at the home of her son, Herman Leffel.

The Rev. Otto Hoffmann, Colby, will officiate at the 1 o’clock services at the Herman Leffel home, where the body is lying in state, and at the 2 o’clock services at Immanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Leffel, nee Smith, was born in Germany Sept. 6, 1861, was educated there, and was married in Germany in 1881 to Fred Leffel, who died in 1900.

She came to America when she was 28 years old with her husband and their two children, farming at March Rapids until his death in 1900. She lived at Unity since 1918, with the exception of a few years spent in Sheboygan.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Lilli) Ewert, March Rapids; three sons, Herman of Unity, Albert of Ely, Minn., Ernest of Marshfield; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Engelman, Tomahawk; two half-brothers, Ernest Radtke, Tampa, Fla., and Albert Radtke, March Rapids; 26 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Three children preceded her in death.
