Seif, Mary Magdalene (7 Nov. 1857 - 4 Oct. 1935)

Mary Magdalene Seif, whose maiden name was Wiesner, died t her home in Neillsville, Friday morning, Oct. 4. She had been in frail helath for a number of years. She was born in Cedar Creek, Washintong County, Wis., on Nov. 7, 1857. She reached the age of 77 years, 10 months and 17 days.

On July 4, 1875, she was married to Fred J. Seif of Dale, Wis. The same year they came to Clark County, and bought a piece of land in the Town of Sherwood, where they began their pioneer life. They lived on this place 8 years, sold it and bought the place now owned by their son John. In the year 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Seif moved to neillsvilel and built a home on South Grand Ave, where she has resided ever since.

Those left to mourn her death are four sons: John, Dave, Charles and Fred all of Neillsville; five sistes, and four brothers; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband and three sons: Frank, Wiliam, Louis, preceded her in death.

Grandma Seif (as she was gernally and familiarly known) belonged to the rank of old settelers of this vicinity. As a woman she personififed everything fine and noble in womanhood. Being unable to go and see her friends, she treasured every little token of kindness bestowed upon her by her friends and pastor. She sowed Love and reaped it; her home life teaching love and patience. She was esteemed by all who came in contact with her. Her memory will long be treasured by her family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church Monday afternoon, Rev. E. H. Vornholt officiaiting.

The pallbearers were Chester Seif, Dale Seif, Harley Seif, Robert Frantz and Ben Frantz.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Roethe, Mr. and Mrs. George Frantz, all of Fenimore; Mrs. Kate Seif, Hortonville; Harold Shaw, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Jose Schwarke and son, Oscar Seif; Mrs. Kate Beste, all of Dale, Wis.; Mrs. Lena Beste, Appleton; Mrs. John Croasdale, Internation Falls, Minn.
