East York

Mr. and Mrs. Miles Bradbury of ?, Nebr., were here for a two day visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Bradbury and his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Nile Benedict. They arrived Wednesday afternoon and left Friday afternoon. Mr. Bradbury is a surveyor for the Northwestern Railroad. He reports that the surrounding country of Norfolk has been without rain from June 10 till Aug. 19, and crops are poor.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Downer and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McNamee drove to Eagle River Saturday night for a two day camping and fishing trip. Mrs. Downer’s mother, Mrs. Mary Henze who has been cooking in a summer resort at Eagle River joined them in their outing and returned home with them on Monday night.

The E. Korth and Geo. Searles families and George Mortimer and sister, Mrs. Grace Rowe went to Neillsville Sunday morning to hear the Wiley Collage, Marshall, Texas, quartet sing at the M. E. Church. It was a rare treat to meet these Colored boys and hear them sing.

Mrs. Elmer McNamee and her two little nieces from Klodike visited with Mrs. McNamee’s parents last Wednesday.

Some of the folks from this corner attended the fair last Thursday at Neillsville, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Korth, and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Searles were shoppers in Neillsville Saturday morning.

Threshing is finished and silo filling has begun.

The boys and girls are again turning their steps toward the school room and pretty soon we will notice the maple and other trees changing their leave from green to many shades of red, yellow, brown and gold.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Korth and sons spent Thursday evening at Bradbury’s and Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Benedict were Wednesday evening visitors there.

Mr. and Mrs. F. Downer visited Mr. Downer’s mother one day last week and found her sitting up and feeling somewhat stronger.
