Pankratz, May (11 OCT 1888 - 15 JUN 1908)

Died, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Monday evening, June 15th, 1908, after an operation had been performed for an abscess, May Pankratz, aged 19 years, 8 months and 5 days.

May was born at Brillion, Calumet Co., Oct. 11th, 1888. She came to Colby, Clark Co., Wis. with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pankratz, Sr., in June 1901. She had been in poor health all the spring and confined to her bed the last three weeks. The attending physician decided an operation was necessary to save her life and she was taken to the hospital last week Thursday, where the operation was performed, but fate was against her. None but those who have sat in the shadow of a great bereavement can justly weigh such a sorrow as this. Those who have gone down into the valley of suffering and stood by the side of a loved one, as hope after hope droppsed away, know that such anguish cannot find solace in the tenderest words.

The funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s Church, Friday morning, at 10 o’clock, the pastor, Rev. J.M. Schramm officiating.
